Why can’t anything travel faster than the speed of light?

There are a number of ways to understand how the speed of light limit comes about.

One simple way is to imagine how one could possibly push something faster than light. As an analogy consider if you were pushing something with a sound wave – then you could never push faster than the speed of sound.

In the same way, the only force that push atoms around is the electric force and electrical disturbances can only travel at the speed of light.
